Hot composting at WeGrowOrganic

Fast, thermophilic compost in weeks

Hot composting is our fastest method — layered piles that heat up to 55–65°C, killing weed seeds and pathogens while breaking down garden waste in a matter of weeks rather than months.

We build hot piles from a careful mix of greens and browns, turned on a regular schedule to keep the biology active and the temperature climbing.

How it works
  1. 01

Gather a big volume of greens and browns in one go.

  2. 02

Layer the materials in a 1m³ pile — roughly 2:1 browns to greens.

  3. 03

Wet the pile down to the dampness of a wrung-out sponge.

  4. 04

The core heats to 55–65°C within 3–5 days.

  5. 05

Turn the pile weekly to re-oxygenate and even out the heat.

  6. 06

Cure for 2–3 weeks once temperatures drop, then use.
