Our approach · Cape Town

Permaculture.

At WeGrowOrganic, every garden is thoughtfully designed using permaculture principles that create productive, resilient and beautiful outdoor spaces. We work with nature to improve soil health, conserve water, encourage biodiversity, and grow thriving edible gardens that become more abundant with time.

  • Site preparation — clearing and marking out a Cape Town permaculture garden
    Step 01

    Site preparation

Every garden begins by listening. We read the land — its slopes, sun, wind and soil — and clear thoughtfully so nothing useful is lost. Existing plants and materials are re-purposed where they can be, and the site is set out with the finished garden already in mind.

  • Earthworks — shaping swales and beds to hold water in the landscape
    Step 02

    Earthworks

Contours, swales and shaped beds slow water down so the land can drink deeply instead of running dry. Working with gravity, not against it, gives the garden a resilient foundation that keeps giving back through Cape Town's long summers.

  • Water-wise drip irrigation laid out across freshly prepared organic beds
    Step 03

    Water-wise irrigation

Drip lines and micro-sprinklers deliver water precisely where roots need it, with the smallest possible loss to sun or wind. A well-tuned system uses a fraction of the water of overhead sprinklers — and the plants notice.

  • Soil preparation — sprinklers soaking newly amended organic soil beds
    Step 04

    Living soil

Great gardens grow great soil first. We feed the beds with compost, worm castings and mineral amendments, then wet them through so the biology can wake up. From this point onward, the soil does most of the heavy lifting.

  • Mulched permaculture beds shaped and edged, ready for planting
    Step 05

    Mulching & planting

A generous mulch layer locks in moisture, feeds the soil and shelters young roots. Beds are edged, shaped and planted with companion combinations chosen to protect one another and produce beautifully together.

From sketch to garden

Every design begins on paper.

Before a single bed is shaped, we map the space by hand — placing beds, paths, compost, trees and gathering spots so the finished garden flows naturally with the land and the people who use it.
