Sheet mulching at WeGrowOrganic
Build soil directly on the ground
Sheet mulching (also called lasagne gardening) is composting in place — layers of cardboard, compost, manure and mulch stacked directly on the ground to smother weeds and build deep, fertile soil where you want to plant.
It's the fastest way to turn a patch of lawn, weeds or hardpan into a productive bed without digging.

- 01
Mow or knock down existing weeds and grass.
- 02
Lay a thick layer of overlapping cardboard.
- 03
Water thoroughly to soak the cardboard.
- 04
Layer compost, manure and green material on top.
- 05
Finish with a thick straw or wood-chip mulch.
- 06
Plant into the layers straight away or leave to break down.
