Bury the scraps, feed the roots
Trench composting is the simplest method of all — dig a trench in a pathway or dormant bed, drop in your kitchen scraps, and cover with soil. Worms and microbes do the rest, right where the roots need them.
It's ideal for rotating fertility through a vegetable garden without a compost bin at all.

Dig a trench 30–40cm deep in a pathway or dormant bed.

Add a few days' worth of kitchen scraps to the bottom.

Cover the scraps with soil straight away.

Rotate to a new trench section as you fill each one.

After 2–3 months, plant directly over the finished trench.
- 06
Repeat around the garden, rotating fertility through beds.
